SAN JOSE, Calif. Texas Instruments Inc. and Mips Technologies Inc. Monday (Nov. 6) announced a licensing deal.
Under the terms, TI (Dallas) has licensed the Mips' MIPS32 24Kc processor core for its new voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) chip lines.
TI's TNETV1051/1052/1053 devices are dual-core communications processors based on a 300-MHz MIPS32 24Kc core and TI's 150MHz C55x DSP.
"As the market for enterprise VoIP continues to grow and consumers demand more robust features on IP-based phones, we are pleased that the functionality of the 24Kc core meets our requirements to deliver superior VoIP solutions to our global customers," said Fred Zimmerman, executive director of VoIP customer premises solutions for TI, in a statement.
The MIPS32 24K core family offers performance of 660-MHz in a 90-nm process. These processor cores are suited for embedded consumer applications including digital and interactive TVs, set-top boxes and DVD players.
