France supports creation of national RFID center
|

|
|
PARIS – French Minister of State with responsibility for Enterprise and Foreign Trade Hervé Novelli highlighted the Government's intention to accelerate the development of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in France with the creation of a national RFID center.
The center, with a budget of 2 million ($2.82 million) over a period of three years, aims to to coordinate national development and promotion efforts of RFID technology. It will help SMEs develop, master and integrate RFID technology into their products.
The center will focus on tests and R&D activities and will offer training and consulting services, Novelli explained. About a dozen people could be employed.
Seeking to "give RFID innovation a significant boost," Novelli indicated that an initial call for applications would be launched in November, followed by a second call early 2008. The French government will then dedicate 3 million to support collaborative R&D projects between RFID developers and users, Novelli concluded.

Startup rewrites NXP's legacy in 3D passive integration
Economic crises can have positive as well as negative impacts. Thus, if NXP had not divested its wireless business and decided to sell its integrated passives device unit near Caen, Normandy (France), Ipdia would not have emerged with an ambition to deliver next-generation 3D-SiP modules for various applications, including advanced LED modules.

Principes d'un convertisseur analogique-numérique (CAN)
